Just to remind you that pin4 is the GND and pin8 is Vcc, if that is of any use. 
...and I have the datasheet for the 24C04, only trouble is I can never ... |

| I don't have a board here, but if that IC is a 8 pin SOIC, then is a 24C04 more than sure. You have to mount another one, then use asset.com to stamp a new(or old) service tag in it.
