Last question for the Wolfman, on your pictures I can see that you are using Minigrabbers. I bought some, but they are way too big to hang on these little chip legs (I have the 8 pins 24rf08) Did you ...

The links are fixed.

There is indeed an error in the diodes; Victor will post an explanation; I'll fix the drawings.

About a cap--3M makes testing clips for many IC chips that do just what bassc ...

Thanks for the tip on the diodes; I'll check it out. All I know is the the board as pictured worked just fine on my T22. I'll confirm with Victor and revise as needed and put up new diagrams/pics if r ...

PostForum: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad Password Help Center (EN)   Posted: Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:51 am   Subject: breadboard help
Small wires could be a problem; one must also use solid wire only with breadboards. This educational site: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/breadb.htm has a nice tutorial on working with breadboards.

I ...

While I wouldn't disagree with Victor, you might try a combination--
have a pro solder the wires to your security chip and build the breadboard yourself.

This is the approach I took and it worked ...

Too bad you're abandoning the driven circuit, I had great success with it. See my notes under the sticky subject "[Practice] Making a breadboard out of driven circuit diagram" and feel free to email m ...

Easy DB9 connections

Only other thing I did to make it easy was used a pre-built modem cable that had molded pin #'s on the exposed face (needed a magnifier, but they were there). I cut off the oth ...

The 5v on the schematic is nominal, Victor's design uses 3 1.5 AA batteries and so the actual is 4.5 V. If you have a 5V source you could use that instead of the batteries, .5 volt doesn't make a diff ...

An old guy's interpretation of Victor's driven circuit diagram into a working breadboard.

I used a breadboard for ease of wiring and figuring the circuit out. It took a few tries; been over fou ...

thanks!

I am pretty stubborn, so I'll persist until I get the driven circuit to work. I haven't had time to get back to it, and don't have a digital camera here; will borrow one and send pics.

Thanks!

So, if the bin file read by the simple circuit gives nonsense where the password should be, should I expect any different from the driven circuit? This happens with IBMpass lite and 2.0, or ...

Are the capacitors used in the driven circuit polarized? Your circuit diagram does not indicate this, but other references to the Maxim232A IC do show polarized caps.

I ask because I'm having trou ...
