Hi Victor,

Having discovered your site. I must congratulate and commend you for divulging your time, knowledge and expertise in hosting this forum and all at nil cost to the beneficiaries!!

Shame on those who are exploiting others by selling on your info. I hope they will get their just desserts!!

I do also have a question for you regarding the driven IC, are there alternative IC's which can do the task as I cannot find a MAX232, MAX232A on my local electronics suppliers stock. There is however a MAX233 CPP and a MAX3232CPE.

Thanks again

Hi,

In fact any 232 driver works. For MAX233 you have to change the schematic because this circuit doesn't need capacitors.
MAX3232 is the same IC instead, only that it works for 3.0 V. You can use this one w.o problems, exactly as 232A, with 0.1uF capacitors.

Regarding the fact that there are people doing what they're doing, I really feel sorry for them, that's all.
