Hi victor!
I have a T410, and I managed to create a dump following your instructions.
But the dump's size is only 1KB. Is it right?
May I send to you the dump for you check?
And thank you for sharing those information! |

How about x61 tablet? I opened up the x61 tablet and the MOBO seems quite different from the x61. |

Eeprom is at the same location.
-Remove keyboard
-Remove palmrest.
-Remove the small daughter card (MDC) that is kept in place by two screws.
-Peel off the sticker and the eeprom PS08 is there like in any X61. _________________ Victor Voinea

[quoting what is obvious is annoying..]
Hi Victor,
Thank you so much. I did find the connection points. However, after running the R24RF08 program, I only grabbed 128bytes of data. Is there anything I missed? Please advise!
Thanks,
Randy |

Are you sure you ran r24rf08.exe and not r24c01.exe? Check again. _________________ Victor Voinea

Hi Victor,
You are correct, I was using the wrong program, after switching to r24rf08.exe, I did get 1KB of data. But now the problem is that in ibmpass 2.1, I only saw scatter characters (characters separated by spaces). Not sure what I should do now. Can I send you the bin file so that you can take a look at it. Appreciate it.
Thanks,
Randy |

Hi Victor,
at first I want to thank you for the detailed descriptions and the great support.
I recently bought a used board as a replacement for my Thinkpad T61. The used board has a supervisor password configured which I do not know. So I followed your instruction to extract the data from the EEPROM. For this I built the reader with the MAX232 on it.
I was able to read the EEPROM data successfully, but IBM Pass lite seems not to show a correct password (something with a " (double quote) is shown, but I can not enter quotes as part of a password). I sent the bin file to your support address. Can you check if it is a TCG/TCPA lock and if I need the writer software package?
Do I need additional hardware to write the EEPROM or can I use the reader which I built according to your schematic?
Thanks

Hi,
I got your email and responded already. Yes, it's TCPA lock and yes, you can use the same circuit- if worked for reading it will be OK for writing too.
I explained all in the email.

Hi!
Firstly the manual is very well made and very easy to understand and use! Thank you for it! You have made a huge job and user's are happy to use it.
I had trouble to read the password from the generated dump. It's Ķ“łSŹ_4³.
I sent it to support-at-allservice.ro. Hope you can help me out. |
