Hi everyone,

I have a Thinkpad X200s that just had a bad bios flash, (i.e. is now a brick). I have tried the Phoenix Crisis Recovery with no luck.

I have another X200s motherboard that has a bad video chip. What I want to do is remove the BIOS chip from the board with the bad video and place it on the bad flash board, (yes, yes, not fun, I know, but also not beyond my skill set).

Thanks to these forums, I know where the security chip is, but does anyone know how to identify the actual BIOS chip?

Thanks

zog

Hello,

That will not work cause in Thinkpads the BIOS is married to the TCPA chip and some other things. Replacing it is gonna give you 0192 POST error

The solution is to repair the original code or neuter it. We offer BIOS repair services for only $35 or $25 for our registered SPEG users.

Hi bob,

I was thinking of going with the full SPEG package found here :

http://www.allservice.ro/forum//viewtopic.php?t=1311

If I go with what you are recommending, do I need to build my own programmer?

thanks

Hi,

SPEG has its own interface, no need to build it. All you might need is a Pomona clip 5250 8pin (or 16 pin for some versions).

Currently SPEG interfaces are out of stock, we expect some parts to be restocked next week so we can despatch all orders. Of course, you may preorder in our store.
