|

Yesterday bricked X61 I bought recently. Tried to flash newest BIOS using CD method (used USB pendrive prepared using Rufus software to be exact).
Flashing had been completed successfully but after reboot found my ThinkPad bricked - dark screen, power & power supply lights on, caps lock and num lock lights switch on and then off once, CPU fan starts to spin and then goes off.
It had BIOS version 1.06 before (with EC firmware 1.02) and I tried 2.22 BIOS (with EC firmware 1.03).
What can I do to make it working again? Where should I look for BIOS chip on X61 mainboard? Can it be flashed in circuit or do I have to desolder it?
Do I have to use SPEG if I have other SPI capable programmer? |

Hello,
You must read the BIOS and email the dump to support@ to be fixed.
If you have a SPI programmer then no need to buy SPEG, the repair service is $35 for "non-SPEG" customers.
Yes, chip can be programmed in-system. I will upload a picture with the chip location _________________ Victor Voinea
