Hi,

I have recieved another laptop in my repair shop, an hp nc6000 with bios password.
has any one information on hp laptop password removal techniques ?

at one forum i could read this :

The CMOS battery is located in the CDROM bay. The leads from the

battery (black&red) run up the motherboard and plug in next to

the ribbon cable for the touchpad. The password is stored on the

small (1x1.5") chip that is plugged in next to the modem. The

printing on my chip states "TCPA SECURITYB" Undo the screw,

remove and toss the chip, and unplug the leads from the battery.

Also pull the hard drive, battery and unplug the AC adapter. Set

the laptop aside and go have a smoke. Come back later (I waited

15 minutes) and plug in the AC and press the power button (do not

plug the battery leads back in or reinsert anything else, just

press the power button) This will flash the BIOS and ask you if

you want to save. Save the settings and power back down. Put the

laptop back together and enjoy, password free.

Hm, "this will flash the BIOS". The guy is confusing BIOS with the security chip.

Personally, I don't think this will do any good. But try and see.

P.S. Definitely we have to open a section for other brands than IBM.

yeah a hp compag nc series would be great. i seen alot of them. but not to much information is out their.
