Hello,

first, sorry for my bad english i am a german student.

the old motherboard of my x31 was replaced by a new one (water damage). but i have no security daughter board, so i can only use the old security board from the damaged mainboard. the problem is the notebook works fine but i cant start a OS, because its stops with the following error

"0192 System Security—IBM Embedded Security hardware tamper detected."

my opinion is, that the security chips detect the false mainboard? is there an way to use the old securityboard with the new mainboard? can i replace the ATMEL 24RF08 with the old 24RF08 from damaged mainboard?

1. In fact is quite opposite, the board detects a wrong chip ID.
2. As far as I know it isn't, but I planned to start working on this, is getting annoying already.
3. Why? The 0192 won't be solved this way. So let it as it is.

You have a new motherboard, right? Well, you need the AT97SC3201 of this board.
The TCPA chip is on a small daughterboard with IR. Each motherboard and TCPA subcard are pairing.

The chip you already have is not working with the new board, forget it.

Of course it can be done, but we simply haven't tried yet.
We will try to get some x31 boards here and we'll see what is all about.

P.S. Topic moved to Hardware section.
