I have a t43 but im 100% sure the cmos battery was dead, but anyway I changed the battery and reboot the system, but now it asks for a password ??? I have never set a password is there a default pass used by Ibm ?? I cant afford any expensive fix so any help would be nice, I also had a tech look at it he said he can read the passwords but he said there was no chip to read on this version ?? im stuck You can email me on jakk@xxx thx for any help or info.

Your laptop asks you to enter BIOS and set the clock, and that password is the Supervisor password. The fact is that the BIOS could not lock it self out. Someone (a person) did it. And no, there is no default password such as 'merlin' or other idiotic word.
SVP is located in PC8394T-VJG, a 100 pin chip. Unlocking software is commercial - PC8394 programming tools, see the download thread. |

Is not dificult at all. Well, I mean if you have some eletronics skills.
To unlock the T43, you need at least the chip reader RPC8394. The software kit includes the interface diagram and manuals explaining the whole process. But the password could be encrypted wih a passphrase, in this case the chip writer is needed as well.
In short, all you have to do is to build an interface and read the security chip and find the password.
The nice part is that you won't need to dismantle the laptop. |

That depends. If the passphrase is enabled in BIOS then you need the full kit because the password is encrypted with a very nice algo and the only chance is to reprogram the chip. The original binary would suffer some changes (we call this TCPA reset, service, it is performed manually by us and is included free in the full package) and you have to reprogram the chip.
None can't say if the passphrase is set or not, so you need to read the chip to find out. |

The laptop? No, no. Only the binary that you read. We will modify it and we'll send it back to you. |

No soldering required (in the laptop).
The interface components are easy to find in any radio shack store.
You can email us anytime at support-at-allservice.ro for any question you might have. |
