Is there any error prompted, a POST error or something? Or is permanently dead?

Hi Bob

Thanks for getting back to me - no error codes, fans and lights come on but other than that nothing - I think i've destroyed the eeprom. I will try to reprogram it and then as a last hope replace the chip.

I would like to say that had I not come across your website with the information and services you offer i would not have been able to fix the laptop in the first place and own a T40.....

Thank You

Paul

The eeprom is not fried, I think you have a problem with the power source. I guess 3.3V or one of 5V lines are to blame, could be only a fuse.
