HIN232 (Intersil), SP232 (SIPEX) are clones. They work as well as the original MAX232, sometimes even better.
Try www.alldatasheet.com if you need additional info on your item.

It's mentioned in many places here. Take a look at this one:

Hi, I am new here. I've been diggin' a little on this forum and I must say that it's great place and community. Smile

Yes, problem with supervisor password. I have ThinkPad T30 2366. Bellow is the picture of the Atmel chip. Before I try anything 'stupid', can you clear it for me:
1. I've downloaded '93CXX-prog.pdf'
2. What program I must use with this chip?
3. You said on your earlier post, that this chip must be unsoldered?
4. Can you mark the pins on this picture for me (I know, I'am asking to much, but just to be sure Wink Very Happy )?
5. Anything else that I must know ...

Here is the picture.

Asking is always a good thing to do.

1. Well, T30 is using 24RF08 that is near the memory slots.
That eeprom 93C46 is used by the NIC to store the firmware, is not the one you need to read.

2. R24RF08, the eeprom reader.
3. No, 24RF08 can be read in system.
4. The #1 pin has a mark on the eeprom. I just posted a picture here:

5. Read carefully the tutorials. SIPROG works for T30.

"Better safe, than sorry" Laughing

I think I found the chip Wink :

This are right namings of pins?

OK.
1. I've read the tutorial.
2. Will build 'Simple Serial I2C Programmer'.
3. r24rf08.exe for reading the content of the chip
4. IBMpass.exe (or ibmpass2.exe) for reading the supervisor password from dump file.

Tomorrow will be day D, i guess, if everything goes well. I will post pictures.

Yes, those are the right pins.
You can clip the GND to the laptop GND elsewhere. So only 2 wires remain to deal with. You can solder them or you can use two tiny probes.

Good luck!

I've found BZX83-C5V1 for zenders. Is that OK?
Can I use another laptop for 'technician PC' (atmel -> SIPROG -> COM port on another laptop)?

As long as they are 5.1V zeners, why not?

Your set-up looks fine, but use itester (comes with the reader kit) and see how is working.
The SDA in value has to be identical with SDA and SCL outputs. ALso, in high state the outputs must be 3.3-5.1V and -0.6V in low state.
