|
|
Hi Amigos,
I read many posts here about unlocking IBM TPs...but still affraid of doing unlock myself (o: ..so I am on to ask U all if anybody have pics/photos of unlocking exactly T41. Some very lama material step by step explaining how to unlock.
As I have T42, I bough for my wifes brother T41, everything looks fine, no locks, but while updating process there also came bios update and after reboot it was trying to update bios but what the hell it wants Supervisor Pass ... )o: under pressure I have tried few typicall passwords as "thinkpad" etc (o; but notebook cryies it is wrong and lock in state error 0199 )o: so now it cant be used no more till I give him right pass.
I can go to Bios settings for view only by entering empty password, so I can see there are all security features disabled EXCEPT Supervisor pass and Bios Update is disabled.
So I understand right, I can use "[Tutorial] How to unlock ThinkPad supervisor password" ..I hope I can do it without killing my IBM in case of my shaking hands (o; But any more pics will really help.
P.S. Dont U have technical manual for T41 for dismount him to parts?
BTW anybody from Czech republic who can do this for me? I dont mean for free of course (o;
Thanx for any support,

Welcome to our board!
The fact is that all T4x series have the eeprom in the same location: on the top of the board, under the touchpad.
It is quite simple to access it, no need to tear apart the whole laptop, just the palm rest.
Ibm published manuals with clear instructions on how to dismantle the laptops step-by-step. This is the one for T4x:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-46464
Open the document and you'll find what you need at page #94. Before removing the pam rest you have to remove the keyboard (see page #85).
In the picture you'll see that the wires are soldered to the chip, but to make it easier you could attach the GND (green) anywhere to the laptop GND, and for the SDA (black) and SCL (red) you could use 2 tiny probes made of sow nails. These probes could be simply get in touch with the pins just before executing R24RF08.
(I guess I should modify the tutorial to contain this tip, as it is quite usefull for such models where the eeprom is easy to handle).
The T4x, R50, R51 eeprom location:

GND stands for ground, meaning laptop ground which is common with eeprom GND pin.
SIPROG works very well with T41, but you have to take care of the diodes polarity.
I guess you should better ask a relative for help, as you said it could be very dangerous. |

You can clip the GND to the LPT port screws.

Hi amigos, while I was few days out of location, my "smart co-worker" has very cool idea and he resets system battery cause he thought it must help, damn stupid person )o: )o:
so now I have new issue:
ERROR 0271: Check Date and Time Settings
ERROR 0176: System Security - System has been Tampered
Is the process of save my TP T41 same as we were talking above? Or things have changed and I must do something else or is my notebook totally killed? )o:

The process is the same.
Your colleague did it right, because you need to make sure that the SVP is set and not only the POP. A lot of people discovered that they only had to reset the CMOS because the SVP was not set.
SVP and POP, both have the same logo, SVP is in eeprom while POP is in the CMOS. If you reset the CMOS, the POP is cleared up, but the laptop won't boot without the right date/time set and you need to enter BIOS setup anyway.
If it's locked, well, you need to find the SVP, the problem is unchanged.

HI,
I have one off topic question...
Now I can update bios and Embedded Controller program when Supervisor password is cleared but when I try to Update Embedded Controller Program it gives me Red Box with "The Process Does Not Recognize This System. The Utility Process Has Not Completed" and only what I can do is Cancel with Esc )o:
Does it mean there is still something wrong? _________________ KaZaN van Hyena

I solve it yet, this update for embedded ctrl prg is known problematic and manual installation with parameters -s -a -s helps me...now I have Embedded ctrl 3.04.
But as always when someone something solve there automaticaly come new problem (o: so now ( I dont think it has something to do with this update) I cant set in Client Security Solution to use passphrase instead of windows password )o: ... I have it but I change for test to WinPassword and now it cant be set back to Passphrase, there is no more initial question in wizard which way I want to use if WinPass or Passphrase... )o:
BTW is it possible to have same passtrough without fingerprint sensor like with it? My T42 has biometric sensor so I turn on power, touch sensor with my finger and it unlocks poweron, hdd, and also logs me into system and unlocks passsword manager ..almost all except SecureDrive is unlocked on one slide on sensor... it will be fine if it is possible also without sensor, just type in one passsword in PowerOn dialog and everything will unlock....
Heh...now I will never leave this forum....thousands of question in my head (o; _________________ KaZaN van Hyena
