Dear Victor I have tried to use your program on 4 different computers to fix this laptop. it is a T30. I have downloaded the r24rfo8 so many times I can tell you how many bits are included. I get every message mentioned here except the one I would give my first born at this point to see. This morning feeling the need for imposed humility I tried once again. I used your circuit tester. I connected the ground lead from the meter to the ground from the interface and then switched positive from sda to sca I came up with -75 while tester says 0/0 at the 1/1 I get 4.54/4.79 volts clock seems to be working. do I need more voltage somehow??. I EXECUTE the r24rf08 and I get a short menu explaining how the program works then PUSH ENTER TO EXIT no error no nothing this is a new one =(

The Tp fires up tells me to hit F1 I do so it then says I need to set date and time as it always has. then the little lock comes up and I hook up the wires ground first sca sda then I click ALLSERVICE/r24rf08/r24rf08.exe. Below is the result.

I have had this thing broke for 3 years now I cannot believe it has not grown wings. I do not usually fail its just a machine. why do I see all these yipee's on here and I cant get it to work no matter what I do. I have even looked for someone in this town that has an eeprom reader NOONE does it

I have not complained I have not whined I read this forum regularly hoping for a clue. I doo have some complaints to the makers of these derned ZENER DIODES as a courtesy you would think they could clearly mark the different ends I mean they are pretty and all but I wasnt sure I had the right polarity I have made 5 of these things now. when I saw your new tester thing I said at last I can tell if my little interface works.

Serial ports are a few and far between in fact this t30 is the only laptop I have that has one. there is one on the back of my old Tangent but it has a big sticker under it that says disabled. I bought a USB to SERIAL adapter so that I can use my laptop to interface the holly commander in my hotrod I get into that just fine. but then the program tells me if something is not interfacing. I sometimes get a busy port and I have to change it from 1 to 4 before I can see it. This enter to exit thing blows me away how can you execute without hitting enter?

Sorry for the rant, bad spelling, grammer etc. my question is WHAT am I doing wrong here

Pal, I understand your frustration, but is not my fault you missed the good old DOS times.

I think I said this so many times, here we go again:

A little DOS tutorial:
For example you installed the software in "c:\allservice\24rf08" folder (or directory).
You have to launch it from a console window.
Start>Run, type "cmd" or "command" and press OK to open this console window.
You should see the system prompt:
C:\bla_bla...bla\>
Now to run the reader, type exaclty:
cd c:\allservice\24rf08<enter> - with space between cd and the rest.
r24rf08 a.bin<enter>- a.bin passed as command line parameter -see?

Of course, do this at the right time exactly as in the procedure. <Enter> means to strike the Enter key. In the example above the binary will be stored in a file named "a.bin" which will be in the same folder with the reader, c:\allservice\24rf08

I figured the execute part out shortly after my post I have since been going over solder joints retesting etc. I when I create the bin it initializes the timer. then it says ...7458 OK!

ERROR:Eeprom not available!

Sigh I check and double checked I run the tester and both lines in the timer window blink 0 for 5 seconds then both blink 1 when both 0 I have -.75 volts when both are 1 They are both at +4.33 volts

I have 3 IPORG interfaces built here and they all do the same thing.
this attempt as usual has been an all day frustration. I cant believe that I can have the same thing over and over.

If the eeprom was damaged or not working I would not be prompted for a password and there are no other errors except time and date settings. Is this correct?
thanks for the reply. you should keep an eye to the sky you might catch sight of this pile as it enters your airspace. its about to become a giant leap The time I have spent on this thing I could have purchased a brand new one

ok well I give up I dont know what it is I may as well take the risk of losing it since it has caused me nothing but frustration for so long. I am sending it off to who knows where to have only a chosen lucky few knows what done @ $79.00 US if it doesnt come back I have lost nothing. If it does I may still burn it in a pointless protest issue. I know just as sure as IBM blew it with BG the board Lenovo IBM whatever has made this wqay can be repurchased by you the owner several times over the lifetime of your TP 700 bucks to replace a 25 cent part.

in my life of 50 years I have sailed the world driven pikes peak braved dakar raised 7 kids dealt with a female for 30 years. the list is as long as you have time to listen. Never have I failed so miserably at something so many jump up and down for joy at the simplicity of.

SIGH sigh

For SIPROG the signals are not equal when outputs are in high state. The SDA voltage must be lower, because of the Data-in impedance. In my opinion the circuit could have been a problem or the serial port is too weak.

For the forum record, if you want support you need to provide the following:

1. What TP model do you want to unlock
2. What interface you have ,SIPROG or driven
3. Pictures with all setup, circuit board, COM port and eeprom connections
4. Anything you may consider useful for us to figure out what are you trying to do, such as how you executed the software, etc.

Without this informations, we can't help you.

Thanks
