Dear Victor
I bought a locked IBM T23 on Ebay.
The seller said it was no problem as it was only a supervisor password and he had never needed it. But I flashed to get rid of his boot password and now I can't open the bios or anything. I get "ERROR set time and date" and then the Padlock.
My good husband built your driven circuit (he likes a difficult task) in a
beautiful little box. We got three Pomona clips for the eeprom and every
thing done perfectly. Followed your instructions BUT no result. Here is
a screen shot. I am using another T23 as the 'doctor' machine - is that OK?
He has checked the circuits over and over again. He used an ST232C chip
in the circuit. ITester tests OK I think...
At first he thought the device should be powered with its own battery but then realised not for a soldered eeprom....
have we damaged the Eeprom with too much voltage?? Since then no battery used but still get "Cannot create the file!"[img][img] |

Hi Mandy,
The device should be powered all the time, if you reffer the interface.
If the error is "ERROR: Unable to create the file!" then you have a software that is preventing or blocking the disk access. This is very weird, though.
I really need details to be able to help you. Pictures, anything... _________________ Victor Voinea

Thanks Victor for your quick reply. Will try again with battery power ON. I would like to send a couple of images but don't quite understand how to
upload them to the forum. If I could send them to you by email direct
that would be fine - but you don't publish your address do you? |

Yes both laptops. doctor and locked patient are powered but should we also use battery power in the Eeprom reader.? I have seen on the forum that you said only use the 4.5v battery for unsoldered eeproms. Have I not
understood this? |

You have to power the interface if you used the driven circuit.
I received the pictures, the setup looks pretty fine, but this doesn't help me, no much details.
The second picture got my attention. Of course it can't create the file:
"r24rf08 a.bin/x/d/i" would try to create a file using forbidden char set.
/x /d /i are swtiches do like this:
r24rf08 a.bin /x /d /i -space between a.bin, /x, /d and /i.
Hopefully that was the only issue there. Good luck, Mandy! _________________ Victor Voinea

Dearest Darling Victor . You are a wonderful and CLEVER person.
I send you many kisses XXXXXXXX. The T23 has revealed its long
and stupid password to me at last and I am working with the new
laptop after kicking all passwords out of the bios. Husband is very
happy too and says to say he loves you! |
