Hi, I recently obtained an R51 thinkpad password protected, I am used to reprogramming atmel AT24C series eeproms, but did not do my research on the AT24RF08 on this model MOBO. I removed the ic to connect to my interface board and read the ic (saving the dump using "ponyprog") but could not decrypt the password. Attempted to erase/ clear buffer and re-write to the eeprom but ;of course, cannot write to it. I know I will need Victor's "W24RF08" to write but my main concern is when I re-installed the eeprom tothe MOBO, the PC will not boot OR give me any screen. It does power on but all I get is one short beep, a pause, 3 short beeps, a short pause, 3 short beeps, long pause and 1 short beep..........I re-read the eeprom and compared the dump to my first dump and they are VERY DIFFERENT.....obviously I corrupted this eeprom. My question is.....has anyone encountered this beep error? and will re-flashing the eeprom with the first (hopefully correct) dump allow me to atleast be able to boot to a password screen.
Also, I have re-verified all soldering and power/gnd is OK....PROT and WP check OK and with oscilloscope upon power up, SDA and SCL show brief data transfer.

Southbrige 82801 balls bad contact or SMbus port signals blocked. Short on SDA or SCL maybe.

Video could give the above symptoms as well.

Ponyprog read with a lot of trash, specially on last offsets.
