In short, this is what you need:
-R24RF08 and IBMpass, two software that you can get from here:
http://www.allservice.ro/store/utils/
install both and read the documentation coming with the reader.
-Read the tutorial in the first page here as well.
-Locate the eeprom and start the job. X41 has PCA24S08 that is a 24RF08 clone (8 pin). It's on the top of the mainboard and is easy to find.

You will not destroy the chip, unles you do it on purpose.
If you do not break the pins, the chip won't be damaged using this operation. |

|
|
Hi Victor,
Jamie has forwarded me to this forum.
I have locked out my Thinkpad T60 laptop as I forgot my BIOS supervisor password. I am no longer able to login into my windows.
When I start my laptop it gives the following error message.
0199:System Security:IBM Security password retry count exceeded.
Your website talks about recovering the supervisor password but not sure about the above condition.
I want it to be fixed without soldering as I have 3 year warranty.
Please suggest what to do.

Hi,
The 0199 error will be reset when you will be able to enter BIOS.
What you need is to recover the SVP with the PC8394 programming tools
For T60, only the keyboard and palmrest should be removed and connections to the password chip can be done by using probes, without soldering. _________________ Victor Voinea

It's been a while since I've been here
Anyway, I thought I would post up a picture of the interface as I built it, because I was pleased with how simple it was in the end.
No need for circuit board / veroboard:
Have fun |

I have a big problem, I have an X24 and I is password protected, I took it apart and have looked everywhere for the ATMEL chip, and it just isn’t there. A lot of people claim that the X20 is just like the X24 but it isn’t so. Where the ATMEL chip is on the X20, there is nothing on the X24. Besides advising me to look some more on the motherboard, does anybody have any advise for me? _________________ Ole |

|
|
Hi,
I successfully dumped the chip to r24rf08.bin file, but it looks like it was in a foriegn language. It says; E (with the ^ over it), also ), and `. These are separated by ...........
Can this file be translated? I'd be happy to send it to you.
Thanks! |

AA button does the magic, if is not TCPA. You may send the dump to support at allservice.ro _________________ Victor Voinea
