Hi, found your site quite by accident via Thinkwiki. Really interesting tools from what I understand of them. I am thinking about purchasing a licence for your eeprom writer but I hope you don't mind if I ask for a few clarifications first.
1. Where would I get a 'dump' of a working T20 eeprom? Is it possible to extract it from a BIOS flash file as provided by IBM/Lenovo?
2. Do you take any other payment methods? Paypal would be particularly convienient.
3. Does anything need to be done to an eeprom dump in order to use it on this model of Thinkpad? Any hex-editing or similar work?
I'm well enough versed in circuit creation and computer hardware to be comfortable with trying this, I know a bit about PIC's which I assume relates to 24*08's enough to get a grasp of what's happening. Are there any resources on the 'net that would help me to understand more about the mechanics of what's involved in reading/writing to this eeprom?
Many thanks for your time and effort. |

I do not wish to come across as strange but may I ask why?
Surely the entire point of a forum called IBM 'ThinkPad Password Help Center (EN)' is to answer questions related to this matter? People can come along and search for the answers instead of a person having to answer the same questions over and over via email. Users of the forum who are familiar with the material can also answer or link to relevant threads leaving the administrators more time to work.
Anyhow, just a thought. If it's entirely necessary I'll email. I figured I'd potentially save you guys time and effort by asking the question here where it might be answered faster than if I bothered you by email. |

This forum is for support not for business talks.
Now, to answer your questions:
1. 24RF08 eeproms and BIOS eeproms are different things. ATMEL 24RF08 is not the BIOS.
2. We do not do sell through PayPal, it is very clear that. And we won't do it ever until this company will provide a true protection for merchants. Case closed.
3. If the thinkpad has CRC errors, normally the dumps need to be edited. We offer a free CRC repair with the writer license, meaning that we edit and correct the original eeprom dumps and you will just have to write it into the eeprom
Any other info can be found over the internet, unfortunatelly we do not offer such resources here. _________________ Victor Voinea

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me victor.
1. Understood, I missed this (very obvious in retrospect) point when looking through the documentation I could find.
2. I could only find references of payment types that you do take, I didn't know that you don't take paypal so I thought it would be a good idea to ask in the event that it might simplify a purchase.
3. Is it fair to assume that each thinkpad's eeprom has unique code? If so why do people on the forum ask for eeprom dumps? Is it limited to certain models?
I'm in the process of building the interface so I'll probably just sign up for a worldpay account when I verify their reliability (I had read about a DDoS attack that they were unable to deal with a few years ago and it made me wary).
Again, many thanks for the assistance. |

We do not use worldpay?! or whatever is this.
Download the software W24RF08 from:
www.allservice.ro/store/utils/
Install the kit and you will find the documents register.rtf with payment info, etc.
Good luck! |

Ah, apologies. Having a slow day today, I downloaded your software and instructions a few days ago and had a browse through them, I was in work earlier and couldn't remember the name of the services you stated in the 'register.rtf' file, just that it began with a W... I guessed.
Moneybookers looks quite good, they seem to have fairly stringent requirements to set up an account.
Thanks for the clarification. |
