|
|
I tried E V E R Y T H I N G! ! !
I dont know what else to do! ! !
I'am about to shoot myselft
Here's my info:
- Laptop: IBM ThinkPad T20 2647
- Interface: Simple_prog
Procedure:
1- Build the interface;
2- Dismantle the laptop;
3- Connect 3 wires to (Gnd, SDA, SCL);
4- Connect COM1 to Interface;
5- Start R224RF08 [mybin.bin];
6- Turn On Laptop->F1->Password;
7- Connect Gnd,SDA,SCL to interface;
8- Execute R2RF08;
9- fucking "eeprom not available"
That's my new baby...
Eeprom before...
two comps and one interface...
Diagram of my interface...
Wires to eeprom...
^And yes, there are the good legs....
Now...
Everytime I plug the laptop and I fallow the procedure(http://sodoityourself.com/hacking-ibm-thinkpad-bios-password/), I get the "EEPROM NOT AVAILABLE" issue. I unplug the interface from COM1: "EEPROM NOT AVAILABLE".
Can somebody help me... I triplechecked EVERYTHING... but everything seems to work properly.
- Good wire contact;
- ^no short with others legs;
- Interface: ok;
- tried on 3 computers
- and 3 motherboards T20 same model... give me a break.
Just wow...
Does anyone have a suggestion!?
*I can supply pictures of parts if needed. |

So, you tried on 3 motherboards with 3 computers, that's nice.
Launch itester and messure the outputs SCL and SDA.
-The SCL must be 5.1V (1), and -0.6V (0).
-The SDA must be ~3.3-5.1V (1) AND -0.6v (0).
Itester must show 0-1-0 for the SCL/SDAout and SDAin alltogether.
Disconnect from eeprom before the test.

No, when the circuit is not plugged to the port the message must be "Circuit not found or bus error". I think in your case you have a serial port issue. Strange, do you have this message on all your 3 computers that you tried on? _________________ Victor Voinea

I was getting the same msg, but i just rebuilt my circuit and it worked since, so my advice is unplug evertyhing and rebuild it.
Here is a pic of a circuit Victor sent me, it might help u too:

ok, thx for your quick responds, I tried to test my interface with Itester... and i'm kind of confused...
Here's some readings:
Code: |
Pin 5->GND ------------------------------------- GND
Pin 4->~10v, -10v \ / SDA->~4.8v, -0.75v
Pin 8->~4.7v,-0.75v---- IN=>[INTERFACE]=>OUT
Pin 7->~10v, -10v / \ SCL->~4.7v, -0.75v |
I took your idea, and I rebuilt the Interface...
Seems to be ok... but when I execute r2rf08.exe with only the the interface connected now I got a "circuit not found or bus error", I don't know if it can give you a clue, but when I execute iTester+r2rf08 I got a "EEPROM NOT AVAILABLE"...
Procedure:
- Turn on laptop>F1>Password
- Connect wires Gnd,SDA,SCL
- press entrer(TechPC)
Result = "circuit not found or bus error"
Feel free for suggestions! ^ ^ |

Why do you execute itester along with r24rf08?! Close one of them.
I donlt know what you done there, but if the circuit is good, then the port isn't. Running the software without the interface must give you" Circuit not found".
Check also the serial cable, must be a straight-through one not crossover. Here is the serial port signals. In the diagram is given the serial port DB9 male not DB9 female.
BTW, the voltage on SCL is not good, the zener is not 5.1V.
10V through a 5.1 zener tied to GND, always give 5.1V, not 4.7!

After I just received the same error " eeprom not available" I've noticed my TP is not connected to the power supply, after I connected it back, the problem was gone.
I'm still stuck in that phase btw. |

I think you're right, 10v -> Zener 5.1 -> 4.7 is not possible, the bastard at the electronic store probably gave me a "Diode Zener 4.7v".
I asked him 3 times... "-ARE YOU SURE IT'S A 5.1v !?!? -YESSSS"
I'll post the result...
Thx all for your time. |

Ok, I bought the 2x Zener 5.1v, and there are good cuz, once in the interface I got (10v->Zener 5.1v -> 5.1v)
I re,re,re did the same procedure....
...result: NOTHING! ! ! !
I have the same issue: "Circuit not found or bus error" grrrr
With ITester I got the readings:
Code: |
Pin 5->GND ------------------------------------- GND
Pin 4->~10v, -10v \ / SDA->~5v, -0.75v
Pin 8->~5v,-0.75v---- IN=>[INTERFACE]=>OUT
Pin 7->~10v, -10v / \ SCL->~5.1v, -0.73v
|
Everything seems to be ok now... but it doesn't work
I'am all open for suggestions! |

Circuit not found:
-diodes could be interted, mounted upside down, I hope you use itester without "invert" checked when you messured the voltage!
-The COM port wiring, look again at serial port figure above.
-COM port is dead. try with othe PC.
When you unplug the circuit you have "Circuit not found", if you plug it (not to eeprom yet), you would have "eeprom not found..".
If all above is correct, BUT when you connect to eeprom and again you have "Circuit not found" then the eeprom pins are wrong.
Also take a look at this picture, see the serial DB9 female wiring and the circuit.

^Thx for your post it helped me to verify my circuits.
After rebuilt my interface and have the same problem, so I decided to use a other pc...
Procedure used:
Ready to execute r2rf08.exe
Turn on the Laptop
Bios locked
Connect wires( Gnd, SDA, SCL )
And then... Execute program and good old: "Eemprom not available"
Now here's my interface photoshoped, to show you my connections:
-------------------------------------------
^ I checked with Itester and I have the very same value.
BUT, when I changed pc, I got a "eeprom not available":
Quote: | PC1:
Interface NO: "Circuit..."
Interface YES:"Circuit..."
PC2:
Interface No:"Circuit..."
Interface YES: "Eeprom not available" |
So I guess somehow I blew my port COM on PC1, yeah
At this point.. have no clue what to do |

No, you didn't blow it, serial ports are much stronger than LPTs and besides they are buffered. The port was not working as expected from the begining.
The best advice is to build the driven programmer, this will eliminate any possible issue that you can have with the ports and everything.
Another thing: Prior running the reader, close all programs, including internet download, etc.! Because if you don't do that, the processor will be bussy and the timers won't initialize correclty. |

Jesus Christ! Build the driven programmer!?
That thing scare the shit out of me! That interface is going to awake and chase me in my appartement to kill me. Can I even buy that chip in the electronic store !?
And I belive that I must use it with an unsoldered eeproms right?
If (no), can I just buy it online?
If (yes), that's just not possible for me... I have a 14pins eeprom.. just imposible with regular material to unsolde that thing.
Is there any options !? |

No, not at all. Do not unsolder the chip!
Yes, we sell it, the price is near $55+$10 delivery. If you want to order it, contact us via email. |

Try to execute r24rf08 with inverted SDA-Iin (a key /I) . I had a same problem and it has turned out. |
