I have a A21m ThinkPad and I'm in the process of building the Simple I2C. I downloaded the R24RF08 and printed the diagram which is Rev. 3.2. Is this the latest version? I have doubts because I have seen different layouts in the forum and I want to be sure of what I do. I also had doubts about the zeners but found the answer in the forum. Resistors I have are 2.2k-ohm, 1/2 watt, 5% tolerance but I read in the forum someone who used 1/4 watt. Does this make a difference or it has to be the 1/4 watt resistor? Again, as per the diagram I have, I only need the 2 zeners, 2 resistors and the DB9. I will appreciate you help on clarifying this for me.

The layout is not important as long as it follows the diagram, the last version is included in the R24RF08/W24RF08 kit, of course.

Regarding the resistors, the wattage is not important either, so choose the smallest you find.

IF you build the SIPROG, yes you need 2 resistors and 2 zeners. Make sure the zeners have the anode tied to ground.

I want to thank you for your great help. It was a success the very first time I tried it. The hardest part was the soldering because chip is to small and there is always a risk but I had help from my brother who is a TV tech. He found two other places to solder the cables where it was easiest than soldering directly to the eeprom. The ground we took it from the COM port of the ThinkPad. Ran the software and in less than a minute my ThinkPad was running like new. This is something new I learn and will share with whoever needs it. I use to fix computers at home with no charge and this is another knowledge I can add to help people.
