As I recall, D400 uses a 24C04 eeprom, I think D410 uses the same type.
If you want to retrieve the password (forensic) you can use driven i2c programmer and Ponyprog and read it in system. IBMpass will show the password at 0x110 offset.
On the other hand, if you don't care about the password you may use a little piece of software to generate the spare password based on the service tag. It doesn't work for -595B tags.

My advice is to not try that stupid "method", the eeprom must be read, not short circuited in any way!
Bob explained to you what to do, search for a 24CXX eeprom and read it out. _________________ Victor Voinea

You've written the same questions all over the forum. Please, try to stick with this opened thread!.
We already answered you, D4XX (not D420) have 24CXX eeproms, usually 24C04 and this can be read with any software you want. Bob suggested PonyProg because it functions with driven programmer and SIPROG. So search for one of these oin your board..or try the service tag method. _________________ Victor Voinea

Ah, in this case you have to find the 24C eeprom. Is not hard to read this, find it first and I will tell you what to do, step by step if necessary. _________________ Victor Voinea

Sorry, we do not have a picture of this yet, maybe you will post one after you'll find it.
Sometimes the 24C04 is covered by a sticker, but the eeprom must be there somewhere |
