I've got a bios locked IBM T43.
It looks like there are no 24RF08 chip on the mainboard, do I have to use the RPC8394 reader ?
Do I also have to buy the WPC8394 (writer) ?
I have a MAX 232 interface, is it useless for this machine/model ?
Does the RPC8394 reader has to be connected on a chip or can I reassemble the laptop ?
Thank you |

T43 has PC8394-VJG, obviously you need PC8394 tools for it.
The writer WPC8394 is needed when the passphrase option is enabled in BIOS setup.
T43 requires minimal dismantling, of course the interface must be in touch with the chip somehow... _________________ Victor Voinea

Thank you for you answer.
Do you know where the chip is located ?
How to discover if paraphrase is enabled ? |

Hm...of course I know but as I said, no need to dismantle it.

If you do not have access to BIOS, nobody can tell you... _________________ Victor Voinea
