Omnibook 6000 has 24C164. but is addressed differently, you have to unsolder the chip and read it as 24C16. Put FF at 0x7F to reset the lock

6100, in the same manner...

Hi Guy's & Victor,
Can I use a Eprom-clip like Pomona's, to do a read/write operation in circuit?
Or is it necesary to desolder it?

Regards/ Bosse

Yes, of course.

Or simply you may use 2 sew needles for SDA and SCL (pin#5 and pin#6). The GND can be clipped somewhere else.

Thanks Victor for the quick answer.
I know some circuits don't like to be read/write when they still attached to the Pcb.
I'll give it go then... Very Happy

Hi Victor,
I didn't work...do you know if it needs to go through rs232...because I use a Wellon VP-280 USB programmer.
I also tryed a Atmel 24c04n on a Dell 510m with no luck.
I have no problem to read chips like: ST25P10AV.

Just to be clear, the machine does't need to be powered up for this operation..right?

Regards

Bosse

My advice is to use the driven i2c programmer based on MAX232. The software can be PonyProg which is quite enough for 24C08. In PonyProg you have to select SIPROG-API and invert the sda and clk signals.

The machine must to be powered, if you want to read it in-system.

Hi Viktor,
I have now tryed to unlock my Hp Omnibook 900, but no joy.
I did desolder the 24c164 read out the containce, put the FF at 0x7F, wrote it back and resolder it to the motherboard, put the machine together again, but no joy.

Checkout the .jpg of the hex here:

Original .bin file here:

Tampered file here:

Hope you can shred some light over this Laughing

Best Regards

The trick I mentioned was for Omnibook 6000.
My guess is to put zeroes between 0x06D-0x0BF, Be very careful to not erase the LCD settings at 0x0C0+!

At start is possible to have some bips and restarts 2-3 times then it should go well. I guess...

Hi Guys, sorry but I try to understand what you are talking about.

Is there a Tutorial about Hexcodes. Some help for dummies, you now Embarassed
...and how to read the adresses. Which tools do i need, something like an hexeditor, ponyprog, etc...

Maybe someone can send me a private message, so I won't disturb this thread.

Anyway good luck man, at the end you will find the pass, I'm sure.
Best regards

Um, what is pissing me off is that the word at 0x00 and the one at 0xC0 should be identical, in all HP dumps they are.

I would suggest you some modds to try out, could you please contact me via email, would be easier for me to give you a better support.
