Hi. I am Max I just joined this service forum because I am interested in fixing computer.I have z1 vaio laptop with password that I can't remember.I came across to unlock the z1 vaio password in this forum.The forum mentioned about the location of the password identified as 2402w which I was able to locate.as pointed out by Victor. After downloading the software and installed it in my PC, I was about to be ready to do step by step procedure. My problem is identifying which is the SDA pin, and SCL pin.Please, Any one can help me identify these pins. Another Problem I am poor in DOS command.Please help me how to launch /create the file. I built the SI-PROG
interface. how do I execute the command. Please help. Thanks a lot. Max

SDA is pin#5 and SCL is #6. You may refer the 24RF08 is the same.
You may use the VGA OUT screws as GND.

To read it with R24C02 and SIPROG just open a console, goto the program's directory and type:

Hi Victor Happy new year. This is just a follow up on my project to unlock the password on my z1 motherboard. I followed your recommended driven 12c programmer. I picked the chip that you pointed out on z1 motherboard(2402w) to read the password. unfortunately the result is always,"eeprom unavailable" I believe that the reader that I built is ok I rechecked it again and again, followed your steps to recover the password. but no luck. Is there any other chip to try?

24C02 is an ordinary eeprom, believe me. You have to read that chip, and is pretty easy to do it. I guess in your case is a interface or serial port problem...I can just guess...

BTW, you may launch R24C02 only with /x /d /i for the driven programmer.

Hi Victor. Thank you again for your help.This is Max again still working to unlock my z1 password. I finally found the eeprom from 2402w chip.The reading goes

I encountered problem in opening the dump .after launching the imbpass2.1 and click AA, it went to "ON" mode from off status, then Press shift and F3 but nothing happen. it only showed 0x0 and nothing showed up. what could have gone wrong. PLEASE GIVE ME INSTRUCTION. Thanks again Max Romen

There are usually 2 x 24C02 eeproms on Sony's boards. The one containing the password is often set to be at 0xAE (the second one).
It is important to read the right eeprom, if you set the program to search for it automatically, it will be read only the first one found and the second will be missed.

Check the status of the 1-2-3 pins (A0,A1,A2) to compute the hardware address. For example, if all three are on Vcc, the address is 0xAE, if they are grounded - address is 0xA0...

Anyway, you have to read it without any errors.

Don't forget to insert "/x /d /i" in command line for the driven programmer.

On board eeprom is powered at 3.3V, is not wrrking unless you use MAX3232, but still, I would never tell you to do that.

If you take a look at the circuit diagram, you should see that I stated to use 3xAA(A) batteries, put the Vcc to the +, and give it a try Smile
