Hi Victor/all, My T23 (1Ghz model 2647) died the other day with the infamous Error 0175 Bad CRC. Everything I read on the web pointed to dead system board (this was before I found this wonderfull place) so I bought a second hand motherboard (1.2Ghz model 2647) and fitted that with no issues . My question is: Can I read the Atmel on my new good board (it has no password issues etc, just goes straight into bios when hit F1) then without modification etc write this bin file to my dead board? If yes, how risky is this process as I dont fancy two boards with Bad CRC Thanks in advance. |

To copy a dump between 2647 boards is not always 100% possible, there are models that use CRC differently, and 2647 is used in T20..T22 too.
But anyway, we offer a free CRC correction along with W24RF08 license, you'll keep the original serials and MAC, which is a must, if you plan to use them in the same LAN.
You have to read the original dump and send it to me to fix the error, then flash back the eeprom and that's it. If you do it properly, no risk at all. _________________ Victor Voinea

Thanks for your speedy reply Victor, to read from the Atmel on the bad board, do I just boot it until it comes up with the error, then connect and read? All the tutorials I've seen are to do with password recovery and tell you to connect when you've got into bios via F1 and obviously because of the CRC error I can't get into the bios. Thanks again, Dave. |

Yes, boot up and wait til CRC error is on screen and HD light is off, then read it with R24RF08.
The eeprom is close to the second SODIMM slot and is a 14 pin chip, you may use tespoints needles for SDA and SCL and clip the GND to the VGA screws or else. _________________ Victor Voinea
