Hello,
I have around 80x locked Tecra M1 laptops which so far I have been unable to unlock. I believe they are all from the same organisation and are all of the same batch.

I have tried wiping the various addresses on the EEPROM as per the unlocking thread. I have not had any success with this and the machine still boots up asking or a password and pressing enter does not pass it, nor does the password change to 4321 when I flash it with the downloadable dump.

Further if I am to replace or indeed erase the EEPROM, the unit still powers up requesting a password. No errors are given. All of this is pointing towards the password not being stored in the EEPROM.

Has anybody made any progress with the M1 unlocking solution? Or has anybody come across a similar problem??

It would be beneficial if somebody was able to explain the password store process for the M1?

My only observation is that a few of the machines from this batch have not been turned on for around a year, causing all internal batteries to go flat / discharge etc. For some reason all of these units displaying the "time / date not set" error do not exhibit a password. This is only an observation and I'm not certain if it's a red herring or indeed an avenue of exploration (I appreciate simply removing the CMOS battery will not do anything on this model)

Victor - I do not know if you are still searching for EEPROM dumps for this model? I will be able to email you various dumps from different machines as per your earlier requests as soon as the passwords are removed!

Best Wishes,
Roger
