You need them if you do it yourself, of course. It will be cheaper than to cover the unlock and transport fees..

Hi Victor ! Respect for the great work !

had a small question ,

Yes i read the forum 1000 times , yes checked cable 1000 times ( went to pro electronic shop , and these guys messure the voltage of cable and checked if chematics where ok , ALL oke ) And yes i know my com1 port can be weak
but it shows 11V ( dindt try yet on other machine , simply kuzi donjt have other pc )

chip model nr = 24rf08cn / 0444 and using the simple-i2cprog

Im not an extreme electronic engeneer etc so its a bit new for me !

Is it hard to replace the atmel chip ? i got the 8 pins ones looks hard to remove , anny litle tips Smile
s it i possible that i broke my atmel chip in the board ?
Is there a way i can find out if the chip is broken or no?
If i boot the laptop and i see the ask for svp on screen it means the atmel chip is in good condition ? / or cn it be broken too.

Conclusion of all i know you read this 10000 times .. but it shows eeprom not found , and i start eating my shoes Smile frustration !!!

Thx annyway Vic

Greetz from Amsterdam

I can help you only if I see a picture or two.

11V? I presume this is not the voltage that comes out though the interface, cause then the 5.1V zeners don't do a very well job.

The "weakness" of the port is in the current, not the volts, you may have a good amount of volts when is on air. Besides the SDAin is having its own impedance, if is too high, it changes the TTL tresholds and the circuit won't work. SIPROG is too much dependant on the port, and is not perfect when it comes to program in-system eeproms.

Dont worry about the chip, is in good condition, otherwise you'll have the EAIA error at startup.

Hi,

Thx for fast anwser im happy there is still hope .. thought i brick the eeprom Smile

i gonan do my best to fix a camera and post some pics of my cable
Annyway i borowed a multimeter aggain and have this outputs
(used i tester and when connect they go synchroom shoiuld be oke )
GND+SDA 4V dc
GND+SCL -1V dc
SDA+SCL 9V dc ( thats what meter show ) i understand that SCL need olso an output of

( 4. The circuit must deliver at least 2.7-3.3V on SDA and SCL pins. )

Is that correct ? what can be wrong

Gonan try fix the pics as soon as posssbile

Thx in advance ( i have the feeling im real close hehe Smile )

Nazdrowje !!!

When itester shows "1", SCL must be 5.1V and SDA about 3.7-5.1V (depending on CTS impedance). When itesters shows "0", they must be all -0.6V. This is of course valid for the simple programmer.

BTW, you may email the pictures to support (at) allservice (dot) ro. I need to see the whole circuit, including the COM port connections.

0187 EAIA data access error. The access to EEPROM has failed.

So im screwd now , anny advice Vic i can do now ?
or is it the best way to sending ya the whole board for a fix? i think thats the best?

Can you tell me a price what i would cost to replace the chip and send me back ?

Got a t42 , oke oke its an older machine but stil not worth for trow away !

That is because you made a mistake when you soldered to the eeprom, or else. I suggest you to check the eeprom pins, see if theere is any short between the legs.

You may send the board to us, no problem. support (at) allservice (dot) ro

Hi Victor,
I have a T21 with a forgotten password.
I built the simple interface.
I am using needle probes to make the chip connections on the motherboard
I the only way I can get a dump is to use the /I switch.
Without the /I switch, I get EEprom not found errors.
I have checked all the wiring and it all seems OK
When I look at the dump, it shows all zeros.
I have tried using a Desktop, DELL D505, D610 & D820 as the technician PC and all give the same error.
I suspect that the CMOS battery may be dead, could this be the reason why the dump is all zeros?

Any help greatly appreciated

Regards

Never use /I with the SIPROG!

For me is clear the the circuit is not correct. Take some shots with a good camera and email the pictures to our support inbox, if you want us to give you a little help.

Regards

Hi Victor, thanks for the reply.
I'll re-check the circuit and if it still looks OK, I'll send in some pictures

Hi Victor
after reading other posts on the forum, I realised what I was doing wrong.
I had the wires numbered wrong on the D-connector, i was looking at the front, rather than the back!!.
I fixed that and managed to get a dump.
I was able to find the password in the dump, so I entered it and the Date/Time display came up.
After I changed the Date & Time, I got the error
188 Invalid RFID Serialization Information Area or bad CRC2.
Can this be fixed by W24RF08?
Does W24RF08 use the same simple interface, or is some other hardware required?

Strange, that you came up with the error when you set the date, cause that is written in CMOS. not eeprom. Maybe you changed other settings as well during the same session, and maybe you forgot to remove the interface wires from the eeprom...

Yes, it can be fixed and the same interface is just fine.

Hi Victor,.
Thanks for sending me a replacement eeprom dump file to replace the totally corrupt one which I extracted. I have now reflashed the eeprom using W24RF08 software and the simple interface (SIPROG)
The laptop has now fully recovered and is behaving normally.

The W24RF08 license fee of $30 is great value for money, especially since it comes with free assistance to recover from problems like this....
It has already paid for itself....

Thanks once again...I am a very satisfied customer

Thank you for the feedback, kltpzyxm.
It was a nice surprise, as I have to admit I love to see happy customers at the end of the day.

Thank you.
