Hi Victor and Bob! I'm new here and i have a quick question. I built the simple interface and i think i have it done correctly, as i checked everything with a voltmeter and continuity meter and all seems to be well. The tester program works also. However, I don't feel comfortable soldering to my motherboard, so i have used needles as some people have suggested. Try as i might, I cannot get a dump. So, i assume the problem is with how i am trying to make the connection with the needles. What is the recommended way to attach or hold the needles to the pins so that i can get a good signal? Also, I can use any of the motherboard screw pads for ground right? I have a T40 by the way. Thanks a ton! |

Not just any screw, better the VGA out ones.
Is fine to use the needles, the IC is only having 8 pins, is not too hard to use them. |

On a T40, the easiest way is to use an alagator clip hooked to the metal pieces (springs) that hold the wireless card into the PCI slot. |

The secondary computer I'm using is x31 (with no COM1 Port on the exterior).
Can I use a 'Serial port 9 pin female to USB' and plug it in the USB port of my secondary computer to unlock the other one? |

That depends, if is based on an UART. Tough we didn't see one USB2COM to work as expected, some users reported that they used it succesfully. Better try a PCMCIA adapter or a docking |

Hello Victor.
I could say where this chip on my Lenovo x60, more like I see is an Atmel 25010AN su27 eight pins. and if this is software that extraction password will apply. My problem is that after removing the battery to replace the plate when you turn on and pulse F1 gives me error 0271 and 0176 and does not stop turning because I asked not password.
Thank you |

Hi,
Thanks for this tuto. It’s a great work.It works for me on an X61.
But I wonder if it’s not possible to do this by a software way…
On lenovo site you can dl a soft to manage bios setup including secure parts to copy on many many other laptops. It’s SRCMOS.EXE (50 ko). As they say if you have a supervisor password, this one is copied at the same time. When doing backup of a supervisor passworded bios config, the exe can ask you this password. It prooves the soft can read the supervisor password…
I’m not skill in ASM to disassemble this exe, but if one cant do it. It should be a better way to recover the supervisor password!
Thanks to consider it !
PS : Please, excuse my bad english… |

Hi,
Great service-Thanks to you I have my SVP back.
But it doesn´t work. When starting bios there are two errors- date and time settings- and-system has been tampered with...-. I was so happy to have the SVP but when I type it it is not accepted. What can I try to get the machine runnig (T42)? Hopefully there is an solution.
Thanks for your help |

I don't think you retrieved the SVP correctly, otherwise you should have access to the BIOS. I may need to see the file -support (at) allservice.ro, to give you a hint _________________ Victor Voinea

|
|
Hey guys hope I can get your help. T20 machine. For a while I kept getting a message saying that the EEPROM was not available. I found the ground wasnt fully intact. I re-grounded it and it did go through this time, thought with some errors i believe
Reading eeprom...
err1: 170:0
err1: 170:128
err1: 172:0
err1: 172:128
err1: 174:0
err1: 174:128
Done.
1024 bytes saved to dump.bin
Ok so I was happy to see that it atleast was interfacing with the eeprom. When I used IBMpass2.1 lite to view the dump, every line item in the center of the page is all F's and the far right side had Y's with umlads over it. I clicked the off button and those Y's disappeared, but everything blank over there. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks! |

I would need to see the eeprom dump, but anyway R24RF08 should give no errors. From what I see here, the program started fine but later seems to have bad contact with the SDA/SCL pins _________________ Victor Voinea

Hi, i have TP T22 and made the mistake of pulling the CMOS battery out and now am stuck with that little padlock in the corner of the screen. I am going to attempt the method on this page to get back in but had a 2 questions before I jump into this.
#1: Back on page 6 someone mentioned about using BZX83-C5V1 instead of BZX55-C5V1 diodes and it was said "As long as they are 5.1V zeners, why not?". When I went to go pick up the parts for this they had no C5V1 of any kind but said 1N4733AT diodes will do the same thing but figured I'd check here first. Its the other values im concerned about. Specifically the mA.
The 1N4733AT values are: 5.1V 49mA +/-5% DO-41. Will these be safe to use? They are 5.1 volt but not C5V1 like i wanted.
#2:Also on page 6 it was said "The SDA in value has to be identical with SDA and SCL outputs. ALso, in high state the outputs must be 3.3-5.1V and -0.6V in low state." What is high state and low state?
Thank you for any help I can get on this. |
