they said i woudl have to replace the motherboard for 895$
my warranty literally ran out a month ago.
i just paid almost 800$ to fix my can and it isnt still fixed
still going to school and worry about money while working small internship
i have been working with my electrical engineer friend trying to do the driven circuit. didnt have the right chip so he reworked the whole circuit to use that chip
didnt work
redid it with the 232 chip instead of a 233 chip
did not work

he left for school down south
i run out of work early to run to the only parts store around a half a mile away
leave to go to this place at 330pm and they close at 4
get there right before close, they barely let me in

come home, calmly build the simple circuit
take a break and finally find a fix for another software problem(took me 3 weeks along with other people)

then i double check my circuit and try it out
on the first try it works

i couldnt be happier
there is such a relief

and then today comes

the only thing i am unsure about is that when i boot before the password was changed i recieved a crc2 error
i dont get that anymore
do i need to write to the bios at all with victors bios write with a correct file?


but i do see a logo at the top that says pentium m and it used to say centrino. before it would go to the pentium m logo if i had the bios battery out of just changed it. then it would eventually go back.
would this effect anythign else? can i and should i correct this?

CRC2 appears for several situations. Depending on TP model, some of them could be recovered by the laptop BIOS it self, some of them not. If you have a permanently CRC error then the eeprom must be reprogrammed. If not and you are able to boot up the thing then you are a lucky guy. The beers are on you

i think the reason why the original driven circuits did not work was becouse the connection of the wires to the breadboard. the wires were so small that a good contact might not have been made. i know we checked them but it might now have been reliable

Small wires could be a problem; one must also use solid wire only with breadboards. This educational site: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/breadb.htm has a nice tutorial on working with breadboards.

I had to solder solid wire to the stranded wire from the modem cable I cut off and used to connect to my serial port, for instance. Plain hook-up wire is fine, or cut-off resistor legs.

i will be working on a t42 that has a bios password on it soon. I plan to remake the max233 circuit and maybe the driven circuit max 232. I will try to release pictures and add it to the practice forum
