|
|
Hello, i'm new here, and i'm wondering if anyone can help with a problem I have.
This is more out of curiosity than anything else, but I do like to get these things fixed
I'm a computer/software engineer, and was sold a faulty laptop a while ago, and I was curious if it's fixable. I've trawled the net but found nothing useful yet.
The laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook S series, model S7020D
This is the type with the b&w LCD panel that shows a key on the right-hand side.
I've seen a lot of messages on forums, regarding using code making software, but these require that the screen actually does show something - but on this model it shows nothing at all (the screen does work, and an external screen has been attached too during testing, just in case).
Has anybody else seen this type & got past the key symbol on the LCD panel ? It seems a shame to break the laptop up for spares, as it's in apparently good condition and working order past the lock problem.
Just to clarify - with/without battery/HD & various memory types, it always does this . . . .
Press the power button,
the B&W LCD panel shows the battery, HD access, and the key pictures,
the fan starts up, CD drive and HD are both accessed as normal,
the TFT screen blinks once as it gets power but never shows a picture of any kind. The screen has been checked on another laptop, works fine.
After about 15 seconds, it powers down again on its own.
According to the details I have, it is looking for a special code to be entered 'only' using the 4 panel buttons to the right of the B&W panel.
If nobody can help, then no problem, it'll be good for bits anyway
Thanks in advance,
Phil. |

There must be a 2402 eeprom on the motherboard, dismantle the laptop and have a look. Check for any 24XX eeproms you may find.
That eeprom must be the solution. _________________ Victor Voinea
