|
|
After to change a damaged motherboard in a TP42 something happened and the Admin PW in BIOS was activated with an unknown password. I believe that some noise was generated during the change and it affected the eeprom. Using R24RF08 and Ibmpass I could obtain a binary file. Unfortunately in the 0X330 address I only could find special characters that can not be entered by keyboard (ex: ASCII 18, 20 , etc). I understand that I can solve the issue re-writing the binary file with a blank password or with a well-known password. To do that I need to have the W24RF08 program. IŽd appreciate if you can give me asap the instructions to obtain it. Any other comment or recommendation would be appreciated. |

No, in case of TCPA lock, we have to reset the certificates otherwise the chip enters in tamper status and the laptops may be bricked for good (4 beeps -4 beeps).
So, appart from W24RF08 license you need also to purchase our TCPA unlock service.
To order the software and service, here is the registration form for the software www.allservice.ro/forum/dl/register.doc

|
|
hi,
sorry to hijack the thread but I did not want to open another one with the same topic
I would like to have a T42 supervisor password removed. I've made the eeprom reader but I'm not really good @ electronics and it just doesn't work...
Here are my questions:
- should the GND be soldered to the leg of the chip (bottom left) or could it be soldered to any ground on MB?
I keep getting the infamous "circuit not found or bus error" message - should this happen because:
- I used wrong components and/or
- done the circuit wrongly and/or
- using another Thinkpad (with the port replicator's serial port) as service PC to read the eeprom???
Also I removed the backup battery from the T42 and now has an 0271 error (check date and time settings) which I obviously can't as BIOS is locked...
Moreover I have now another error 0176 system security - the system has been tampered with - but with only 2 beeps and it goes to the password entry screen so I suppose I did not kill the system (yet)
Also, if I lost completely, can I just replace the eeprom from another T42 MB?
Could it be a problem that I have no PC with a proper serial port but only a TP and a prot replicator?
Any suggestion would be appreciated |

- Not just any ground, you may use VGA out connector's screwholders
You may use a docking port, not a USB port replicator. Docking serial port works pretty well.
The error shows up when the interface is wrong or port is not working.
USe itester.exe to test the interface over the serial port. Do not try anything until the test seems to be positive, or you may risk to corrupt the eeprom or worse. _________________ Victor Voinea

This was fast Victor You should sleep by now (just like me)
I suppose itester is dlable from the forum - I'll have a look tomorrow.
Yep, I already connected it like that hence the 0176 error "system security - the system has been tampered with"
Hope it's not lethal... |

SDA/SLC out keeps changing between 0 & 1 (as it should be I suppose)
SDA in is just 0
I do not have the driven-i2c programmer but just for curiosity I have inverted the settings and it's obviously it's doing the inversion:
SDA/SLC out keeps changing between 0 & 1 (as it should be I suppose)
SDA in is just 1
What is the problem? |

Well, I don't know...
The program is not able to read SDA signal, wrong circuit. Some good pictures will help me to help you _________________ Victor Voinea

|
|
Hi Victor,
after the 4th(!) circuit made and tested with no joy I've thought I probably made no mistakes and the IBM port replicator is my problem.
Last night at a friend's house I've unlocked a T42 in 5 minutes on a PC. (password: REDL10N)
So any of you laptop only people (like me) do NOT use IBM's port replicator!
ps. Victor, thanks for the support and the program! Have a merry Cristmas! |
