There are two chips labeled 2402W on the MB, one near the chipset and one near a large Ricoh chip. I probed the one nearest the chipset for the dump. I used a driven circuit and r24c02.exe, base_address=$AE. The recovered user password was six characters, fc[three digits redacted]c. There was no administrator password. I entered the user password to boot the V505, access the bios, and clear all passwords.
Photo 1 shows the sewing needle probes Victor recommends for this tiny chip. Thanks Victor.
Photo 2 shows the driven circuit, copied almost verbatim from Raymond Kawakami's web page. Thanks Raymond.
Photo 3 shows most of the MB, with the probed chip circled in red.
Photo 4 is a closeup of the probed chip circled in red.
Photo 5 is the dump, with part of the password redacted.
Many thanks to the Allservice forum participants who laid the ground work for this recovery operation.
