Before I purchase your package I want to make sure that this is what I need.
I wanted to reinstall my T60p to factory preset.
So I went for the usual F11 and it asked me for a Supervisor Password that was NOT set and I needed to set it first in order to proceed.
(This is a mystery to me....)

I tried to do so via the Think Center but after being refused several times I restarted my laptop and a message appeared saying that I did exceeded the maximum number of unsuccessful attempts (I do not remember the exact phrase, it was in August).
I left the thing alone since I was very busy at work and I had fortunately made an entire back up with xxClone (great little free gem)

Now I went back to it and I tried to remove the internal battery just in case it was that simple. Well now I am getting the following error messages:

0271: Check date and time settings
0176: System Security - The system has been tampered with.

No way to get in the BIOS. No matter what! I am out!
Can I use your method to clear my laptop?
I have never use a password anywhere but for the Windows log on.

No BIOS, no Hard Drive and certainly no Supervisor Passwords.
What's going on with these Lenovo ThinkPads?????

Thank you for your amazing support, in any case, to PC victims....

Marco

BTW in case the package IS the solution, can you tell me exactly which one I need? I want the complete solution, Soft and Hardware. Thanks.

Nicely put, I'd love if all our customers were such easy to read.

The cause is the Supervisor password that is set. Not by you, maybe, but is there. The right package to solve the T60 issues is PC8394 programming tools, that can be bought in 2+1 variants:

1. TPM Reader only - RPC8394....$45
or
2. Full kit, reader and writer - RPC8394+WPC8394....$110

And this is optional, but we strongly recommend it:
3. Hardware interface...$55+$10 shipping with registered airmail.
Interface is needed, either you buy it from us or you build your self one.

Now, if the passphrase option was not set in BIOS, then RPC8394 and the interface is enough. Else, full kit is a must.
If you wonder how can we know if that passphrase is on or off, we can only figure that out after we have the chip's data.
