Hi there, I have been reading the tutorial to unlock the T61.

On step 4 "How is it working" it tells the user to press f1 to enter BIOS, but in the T61 version the eeprom is located under the board, thus making me disassemble the thinkpad and therefore not allowing me to power it on.

I am new to unlocking computers, and I just want to know if the software will work without the thinkpad being powered on.

And for the simple-i2cprog.pdf schematic I can use a power supply of 4.5 volts instead of using the three series batteries correct?

I just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

Thanks for the forum and the help.

Hello,

You have to attach the keyboard anyway othewise you can't power on the laptop. I usually keep it vertically with the keyb on one side.

No need to supply anything if you use simple programmer. The laptop must be up and running and the eeprom is supplied in system.

Regards

I generally use a port replicator with an external keyboard for this. No problem starting the machine or using the keyboard that way.
