i have r61i it shows in the screen a computer icon with lock
please is it power on lock or svp lock?
how to know if it hd password or power on password or svp lock?
i took both batteries out for 1 hour but still show the lock, i cant access to the bios
please help

Supervisor and power-on pwds have both the same logo. Since you removed the back-up battery, then it's a SVP lock.

Is pretty easy to figure out if the HD is locked or not by using it in another laptop or an external USB case.

To unlock R61 - read the tutorial posted above.

but the problem that i have only an other siemens laptop which has no seriel port only vga outport and usb
how can i use the usb to read the chip?
i bought everything
sorry may u explane it in easy way cos im a woman so i have no idea abou these thing, and i prefer to do it myself
with best regard, oh ya i have a friend who has thinkpad t42 i think, would it lock his computer when i try my hard disk in her laptop?

Well, it may work with an USB2COM based on UART, but I would suggest you a PCcard UART COM port, those are just about under 20 bucks on geeks.com or ebay

No, the T42 won't get locked itself if you put a locked drive in it just for the test.
[Edit] Sorry R61's HDD won't fit in a T42 because it's SATA not PATA, I just figured out reviewing your message.

i bought itester , cables , breadboard, the stuff u wrote, and now usb2com Sad
even i dont know yet if its TCPA or not Sad

i dont know but something has 2 cables and a display to check the out put V ... Rolling Eyes
