Hi Victor,i tried an experiment that has gone terribly wrong..i swapped out MEC5025 from a dead d630 onto another d630 with a password and now the laptop does not boot anymore..adapter indicator stays on when i insert the adapter..but when i press power button the battery charge indicator blinks for about 2 secs and goes off and then the adapter indicator comes back on.. i have checked all soldering and everything seems fine..question is did i swap out the wrong chip or have i damaged it.. ? the chips on the mboard are: MEC5025,ECE5028,EMC4001,ECE1077 all from SMSC and can you show me which chip has the password? any help will be appreciated.. |

Hello abu1,
I believe you swapped the right chip. If you don't have the schematic for this model, the document number is: LA-3301P, google it and you are going to find it (search with the following terms: +"LA-3301P" +inurl:pdf ). Had a similar problem while working on a motherboard, all I had to do was to remove the coin cell battery and that did it for me, otherwise you may have to check your soldering. |
