Hi,

The HD password was stored into the drive.
If you have set the SVP and HDP (Master or User) to be the same then all you need is PC8394 Tools. We will fnd the password and unlock the laptop and drive, even if passphrase was enabled

If not, there's HD Security Tools, but the kit is not meant to recover HD data...

The data on hdd is very important for me. I must get the data back.

I am not sure whether the two passwords are same.

I search on the internet and get to know that DriveOn can crack the hdd password by brute force. I notice your HD Security Tools include EraseON & KeyON. why you say your tool is not meant to recover HD data? If I can crack the password by brute force, then I can access the hdd data.

I feel a little confusion, can you make it more clear?

thanks!

The cracker is EraseON and as the name says, when the password is found, the drive will be erased.
The aim is to recover the drive and not the data. The software is not for forensic use, in its current version.

I don't think one can forget both the SVP and the HDP, or maybe it was a car accident...but is not our problem anyway Very Happy

I dont think it's strange to forget password.

I bought my Z61t on June 2007 and set a POP, SVP, HDP. After that I set one fingerprint authorize all the password access. This mean when power on, I dont need to input 3 password. Only one single fingerprint authorization, all 3 password access automatically authorized. This work fine for almost 3 years.

But recently I re-install the OS, fingerprint software and adjust some settings. After power off, then when power on, it ask me to input the hdd password. When I try to access bios settings, it ask me for SVP.

do you have any good advice?

Maybe, but all of them?

Well, at least should you remember SVP = HDP then the reader from PC8394 tools will be good enough to recover the drive as it was.

I don't have other idea or advice, I am sorry.

[edit]

1. SVP = HDP ---solution PC8394 tools, at least the reader RPC8394.

2. If you rmember at least a few leters from HDP, you may build a list of variaitons and try it with EraseON. The scan will be done in just 1 second and as soon as the password is found and displayed, you may cut the HD power to prevent the erase. --- solution HD Security Tools (for the drive, not SVP)

3. By using drive manufactuer's master pwds. Well, this is a delicate subject, we need to know the drive model. Besides on many drives, if the MASTER has been overwritten, the original one form manufacturer has been lost. And the Thinkpads use to enrol a Master for the drive even if you do only User Password --- solution -KeyON with a good master pwd -hard to say it will work or not.

Now I am really out of resources.
