Hi all

I need to recover a SVP and a Disk Password from a Thinkpad T22.

I did read the stickies and previous related threads on this Forum and others. I also study the available pics but when I saw the microscopic ATMEL chip I have to deal with I decided that I am not going to solder anything of that size as I will ruin the motherboard dor sure ...

On this T22 I have an ATMEL F / 24RF08CT / 0049 with 14 pins.

Further research indicated that the best way for me seems to buy a POMONA 5251 for 14 pins

http://www.pomonaelectronics.com/pdf/d5250-54_5437_1_01.pdf

I am going to make the simple interface (not the driven one) as it is simpler and easier

I have a few questions

1) Does someone has the URL or a PIC where I could see the alternate contact points of the ATMEL T22 chip ?

2) Did someone use the POMONA test clip for this purpose before ?

3) Do they fit perfectly on the ATMEL chip ?

4) How can I be sure that all the contacts are in due place and functioning ?

I have to order all the test equipment from the Internet as I have no stores around me carrying that kind of parts

All the best

Hi,

Pomona will not fit the ATMEL afaik. But you may use two probes or sewing needles if you like. The GND wire can goto VGA out ground (screws) and SCL/SDA wires may be connected by hand with the needles.

You may need somebody to help you launch the application while keeping it steady, preferable the girl next door.

Like Victor said use to probes.

I use to old volt meter probes filed to a sharp point.

Works great.

No soldering.

Good luck.
