|
Hi!
I have a couple of Thinkpad X31:s, and I am having trouble locating the Atmel chip that contains the supervisor password on the motherboard.
Anyone who knows where they might have hidden this?
(Have dismantled half of the computer already, just thought I'd save me some time if anyone here knew the answer.....).
Greetings, ZaphodB |

Okay, pictures are up..... So are ATmel chip dumps of the two X31:s I have to experiment with.
But it was impossible to decode the password, and the data found at the password location was halfway identical to what another user of this forum posted about his troubles unlocking Thinkpad X31....

The circuit marked U36 is the Atmel chip. This is on Thinkpad X31 2672-PHG model.
I've posted both motherboard pictures and dumps from two X31:s.
One user posted that he had the following data at 0x338:
d6 39 f6 aa d5 ff 30 5d d6 39 f6 aa d5 ff 30 5d 48 34 d6 fb 42 32 d6 07
And I have:
d6 39 f6 aa d5 ff 30 5d d6 39 f6 aa d5 ff 30 5d 88 c6 fa 03 83 c2 fa 02
I'd appreciate if you could host the pictures as I have ADSL with 1 Mbit upstream and will remove them in 3-4 days otherwise.
Greetings, ZaphodB
P.S Any help decoding my dumps would be greatly appreciated!!!!

The passwords are passphrasse encrypted using TCPA. To unlock them the dumps must be readjusted and eeprom reprogrammed using W24RF08.
Unfortunately, the TCPA removal is not free, the price is the same as for CRC corrections, $25 each. This service is available only with W24RF08 license that is $30.
