Hello all

I see the articles in this thread, and am nervous about doing it, never soldered a thing in my life! Embarassed

I am going to get the parts together in the UK, I am going from a standing start so need a parts list that is available in the UK.

I am trying to resolve password on a T400 TP

Might be worth the more experienced guys here producing a kit (or even ready to go device to help nervous people like me!

***Just spotted that this site does indeed sell hardware kits, please linky to the easiest one! I have PC's with Parallel and Serial ports Mostly XP

***

Use alligator clip for ground.

Use some old volt meter probes to make contact rather than soldering.
File probe tips to a sharp point.

You will need someone with you to hit enter on the PC you use to read.

Have removed 100's of passwords doing it like that.

Good luck.

Thank you for swift responses Smile

Does that kit include everything I need from a standing start, or do I need old wires/clips/probes etc to connect to chip and PC (Do I need serial cable to PC for example)

I know these questions are rather basic for the more experienced out there, but just got the machine and am nervous!

The interface has its own serial cable, just connect and go.

You may need two probes for SDA and SCL wires in order to avoid soldering. Anyways, two sewing needles can also be used as probes, we can provide the interface with them soldered and insulated.

I'm almost ready to order, I just need to remove a security screw (I think a T6 with a centre "dot"!

I would appreciate you making that sewing needles mod, if you get time Smile

Thank you!

Got my T400 stripped now, (takes much longer than a normal Laptop!) I was able to tease out the security screw with a "normal" T8, yet I have two types of T8 one fitted one didn't!!

Anyway can see the Chip now, so will send order. probably tomorrow.

Just concerned me that the T400 might well have extra security, will the SPEG chip be able to do everything that the Driven can?

SPEG is not needed for the moment, let's try to read the eeprom first off.
