Ok, I've never touched a soldering iron in my life, let alone built a circuit like this. But I thought I'd give it a try...

I went to my local store and bought all the stuff neccessary for building it, e.g. soldering iron, wire, resistors and diodes.

My question is: After the Resistors theres a dot with SCL or SDA on the diagram. DO I just basically create a T junction in the wire to do this, or do I use something else?

Cheers

Maybe this post will help you better.
The circuit is quite simple and doesn't need such a skill.

Good luck!

Hi, great site, great help. I seem to be having a problem locating the pdf of the schematics and pinouts of these R and W 24RF08 kits.

Many forum posts say that the pdf's are included in the files, but upon downloading them, there are no pdf's only the exe files to run the software. I could not locate them either in a search of the forum. Anyone have a copy of the schematics and parts?
Did everyone spend the $30 for the software, it is required to unlock a eeprom password, or just optional?

I figure this much from reading the tutorials:
=============================
2 - 2.2k Ohm 1/4 watt resistor
2 - zener diodes
1 - 9 pin male Dsub serial port connector

am I missing anything?

Is there any concern for cable length to the eeprom chip? Some sim, ilar circuits require a short cable, otherwise there is interference and signal quality issues.

thank you for the help!

Buddy,

Those are software kits, you have to install them . The pdfs are there.

W24RF08 is the writer that can be used to reprogram these chip in case of:

CRC errors
TCPA encrypted passwords - eeprom content must be modified to disable the lock

Else, just to find the SVP, no need to pay a dime.

For RS232 interface, the cable can be longer than you think, the signals logics is (-V= Lo) and (+V = Hi), so the losses are not so important.
Anyway, 30cm -1m should be enough.

Good luck!

doh! leave it to me... I opened the zip files, and only saw the exe.. never ocurred to me to actually install the exe - thought it was the reader/writer software itself Smile

thank you!

Now off to radioshack to get royally ripped off for a couple of diodes and resistors Smile

Yea, "setup" in their name usually means there's a kit for sure. Wink

I just picked up a a21m. it has a CRC error.
if I understand correctly:
- I dump the eeprom to a file with the reader
- buy the eeprom writer kit ($25)?
- send the dump to someone here for them to repair it
- re-write to thinkpad?

please advise
thx

Yes.

The software is $30 and you must send the dump to support-at-allservice.ro. including the register.rtf that confirms the payment.
