I have a Sony Vaio laptop but cant get passed the Bios password
Can anyone help

Try to see the POST screen where S/N is "usually" displayed.
Power on the laptop and hit ESC key each second POST diagnoze screen must appear for a short period of time and maybe you can catch the serial numbers.

You may use a camera then rewind it.

Thanks bob I have got passed it but I have to get into Bios to get it to read from CD rom to install windows on hard drive.
It brings the blue error screen up and as I have an Apple Mac I cant remember how to do it.

I'd guess the SATA settigns is in AHCI mode, goto BIOS and set SATA in IDE compatibility/legacy mode if you want to install XP from an OEM CD.
