I noticed a lot of people seem leery to soldering in such small and confined spaces.

So I hope this can help the cause.

Most who are trying to access pins on a chip can do it without soldering, and some inaccessible chips with contact points, and most of those may only be done by soldering or use of simple needle type probes.

A company in Pomona California, has some kits witch are rather expensive BUT, you are able to purchase JUST the individual clips you need.

Here is a link to their (PDF Data Sheet) showing the kit and a Micro SMD Grabber Clip, along with a simple Holding Rod which is basically not needed for most Atmel chips, Only 2 of the Micro Clips for the chip legs, and any standard test grabber clip for the ground will do fine.

Also note in the data sheet that the clips do come in several colors.

Here is the link to order a (Black SMD Micro Test Clip) at the current cost as of today, $12.40 USD. You can navigate that page to find the other colors.

I hope this helps many of you who fear the hot metal splash game, or do not have decent enough soldering equipment, and do not wish to dole out a C note for a good gun.

Enjoy... Ja 37 Wink

P.S. Although I once lived in Pomona, I am nowhere near there now, and have no connection to this company. I get most of my supplies at local wholesalers in my area, some of it does come from Pomona Electronics, and I have no complaints. I haven't purchased directly from them because I can get most of what I need locally.
