Hi all,

I have a Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop that is missing the 2402w6 EEPROM which contains the password.

It has been de-soldered by the previous owner and then lost.

If I purchase a scrap board from ebay and then unsolder the 2402w6 from this and replace mine would that work?

Alternatively, it there a place I can purchase a replacement EEPROM from?

Thanks

Hi,

M2 has two eeproms, one near the PCMCIA and one right close to the chipset which has the password.

If you have the eeprom, then we can help you with a valid dump for it, but in some cases BIOS must be flashed as well because the eeprom has certificate that is unque for each BIOS (or is belive ot be so).

Just a bit of an update and wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I have swapped both the bios chip and the 2402 eeprom from an unlocked board and the machine is still asking for a password.

I have written an unlocked dump to the eeprom but it is still asking for the password.

I assume the password is stored elsewhere then, does anyone have any ideas on another chip to look at?

i have searched for another 2402 but can't find one.

From what I have gathered from the post at http://www.allservice.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4178&sid=80119eb58eb906044592335ec7660876

The password is stored in the Reneas keyboard firmware chip. Shef says it starts with M2 but I still can't find it anywhere.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
