Hello,
I've had some interesting experiences trying to use your method with the X32.
1. Firstly, the ATMEL chip is on the underside of the board. I have to completely dismantle to get to the chip to connect to the pins. To have the power button/F1 key accessible and the chip still in view is tough! Has anyone done this before with success?
UPDATE: I think I have found test points on the upper side of the board that map to the pins on the chip. should be easier.
2. I'm also not entirely sure that I am on the right pins.
I am presuming that the text on the chip is oriented the same way as on the chip in your diagrams. Does anyone have knoweldge of the chip on the X32?
UPDATE: I found a PDF datasheet on the chip online highlighting the pin numbers, will share later.
3. I'm using Windows XP in a VM environment via a powered USB to Serial adapter.
Can I use itester.exe to determine if my circuit is working OK?
UPDATE: I've tested the circuit against the plan with a multimeter it works fine. I resoldered some joints that were suspect.
UPDATE: I also ran the itester and got the required 11, 00, 11 etc.. output.
4. Does the serial connection have to be COM1 or is COM3 OK?
UPDATE: I have found that COM1 is required, at least in my setup.
I still get an "EEPROM not available message" though, any ideas on the usual causes for this?
Anyone with specific X32 experience would love to hear from you... |
