Hello

Someone at the PC service replace wireless pciEx card from my Lenovo with one from Toshiba laptop. When I turin it on it shows me this error.

I searched forums, and found allot 1802 patches bot none of them did not work! If anyone have or had this problem on T61 pls let me know how to solve it.

Hi,
you need to find a modded bios with "whitelist" removed and then update your laptop, that's going to allow you to install any non-Lenovo card and get rid of ERROR 1802.
I recommend that you first investigate throughly, check and double check that the BIOS update it's for your laptop (model number and type) before trying to update it and that it has been tested by other users, there's some risk of BIOS update failure involved. Backup your current BIOS.

Reo51st Thank you allot! I solved my problem!

For everyone... go to Thinkpad forum, on this specific post "ThinkPad BIOS whitelist (error 1802/1804) *READ 1st MSG*" ---> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=55837

Read it first, and go to the link on the bottom of the post called "Zender BIOS files" on the left menu select "Zender BIOS"

One the list, found your Thinkpad model! Check, check again and recheck if it is right model and right bios file.

Download *.rar file, burn it ona CD and flash bios...

1802 is history!!

Hi,
I doe have the same problem with 1802 at an T43.

Made a bootable CD with "no-1802" no help .... answer .. Windows98 has detected that drive C: does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32 partition.

Enter the CD ..... T43 answers... Message: This diskette is in the default drive will not run on this system.
Your system is now locked. To restart press Ctrl+Alt+Del...
hurraaa

All because the d....mm Broadcom WiFi board will not work in the T43..

What is your machine type?

There are 2 modes for the different machine types.

Please read the definitions for "SKIP" and "FULL".

This mod is tricky but if done right it will work.

Let us know.

1YET62WW is not listed.

1YET65WW is on the list.

T43's are as I said very tricky.

There is a white list for WIFI cards and HDD's.

Will keep looking into it and let you know.

Thanks Tim.

Hello,

Try the following: ... Remove Harddrive ... find an old Harddrive empty (vergin) ... A capacity of more than 100Mb will doe since Windows 98 is a smal software.
Format the HDD in FAT32 ! --- Install Windows 98 on it ---- Set BOOT sequenc to optical drive first , HDD next.
Download "no-1802" from the Internet. Form it to ISO and get it burned to a CD .
Start PC (laptop) and check if Windows 98(or Linux) comes up untill finished.
Insert the selfmade CD to optical drive... !! Shut down PC emidiately by pressing the start button for more than 3 sec.
Restart the PC .... now it will boot from optical drive.
It is commimg up with some Linux Informations. .... ok ...
finaly it shows A:> or A:\ print in (as per adwise... simpley) no-1802
it takes less than 1 sec. ---- ready ---- thats it.
remove the CD from Optical drive. Shut down PC --- Plug in Mini WLAN Board --- take the temporary Harddrive OUT --- put the original hardrive in --- Start up your PC - you will see --- no more "Error 1802" - wait untill your systemsoftware has completed.
Go to Internet and download "Unknowen Device Identifier" --- let it runn ---look for red informations -- open all subfiles - check out what mini WiFI (WLAN) board it is.
Go to IBM/Levono Homepage -- download the driversoftware- get it installed - !! It takes !! 2 !! Steps. First is just a "installroutine" -- You can find it at C:\DRIVER --- open there WIN --- open WiFi --- search for the "set.up" and start it --- it will guide you to driver-installation. --
Restart your PC ---- now it should work -
Check again with "Unknowen Device Identifier" ther should be no more red lines.
(( No need for driverinstallation if you have Windws 7 as Systemsoftware -- it goes to the Internet and finds and installs all nessesary drivers automaticley))
----If you can not find "no-1802" software in the Internet --- I can send it to you --packed es .rar file 5.5Mb -- by Email -
Best regards Mirka

Nope, the no-1802 trick that consists in changing one byte in CMOS is only working for models up to T42/R51 but not for T61.

You may find a link to my old program here but is useless as said.
