"One named "DriveOn" uses ATA Security Unlock command to crack the password. This one needs special hardware to reset the disk after the attempts expired and I spent some time till I found the best hardware solution.

some Seagate only 2, after that the drive must be repowered or hard reset.

How soft works whitout special hardware for driveon?
or it works only for disks thet dont have expiration attempts?

All drives have attempt limits, 5 attempts is the standard. All I can say is that the software uses direct access to the controller and can reset the counter.
