Can you tell me if only The software is R24RF08 (eeprom reader) and IBMpass (password decoder) Is required to unlock a T61? I have read additional software tools may be required if the passwords are encrypted. I don't believe the security chip is enabled on the model in question. In the case that it is what additional tools are required?
Thanks |

Hello,
Yes, the additional things would be:
W24RF08......$30 - eeprom writer.
TCPA unlcok service....$25 - where we patch the binary file.

If there is no encryption would the R24RF08 (eeprom reader) and IBMpass (password decoder) be the only required tools? or do the T61's require the W24RF08 - eeprom writer?
I don't have an problems paying for the tools, would just like to know what are required for this model. Thanks. |

Yes, they would be the only required programs.
And you may download them from www.allservice.ro/store/utils
Have fun! _________________ Victor Voinea

I was able to dump the BIOS information using the !Bios tool. IBMPass is able to display the information but it may be encrypted as I do not see the password I had set as a test. Are you able to read these file types or is the only method to probe the eprom to produce the .BIN file. |

Hello,
That is some program that reads/clears CMOS (not the BIOS) at the standard port, maybe would work for some old dusty 286/386/486 CMOS. I don't think it will read the entire CMOS area in a modern PC, or a Thinkpad.
Anyway..this eeprom is not the CMOS. Even if at one point the information stored in it can be accessed through SMBUS ports, the area with the password is hard-protected after POST. So, the only way is to probe it and read it in my programmer, as per the tutorial above. _________________ Victor Voinea

Hello,
You opened already this topic on the problem, please stick to it./
When passphrase is ON, the password can't be recovered. You have to buy the eeprom writer and to let us fix the eeprom dump.
Have a nice weekend. _________________ Victor Voinea
