Another ROM image will not work, because each BIOS code is maried to the TCPA chip. If you reflash the BIOS in a programmer, you'll get 0192 error.
An ideea is to mount a secondary chip with a standard BIOS over the original one, that will only used to boot the machine and reflash the BIOS from a dischette with the original BIOS utility from Lenovo, that will not destroy the seczone area. Once the BIOS is reflashed, you may remove the secondary BIOS chip.
Is like in dual BIOS machines, when the secondary is for back-up. All you neeed is to put an exact BIOS IC soldered in parallel over the original in the motherboard. You'll have to desolder the Vcc pin from the original, to disable it temporary and allow the spare BIOS to boot up. After booting and the PC is on, just reenable the original chip again with the Vcc pin (you have to disable the spare BIOS now), reflash with the OEM utility that keeps the TCPA area intact and that's it.\ _________________ Victor Voinea

Thank you so much victor by the response and speed, I have a question: what should I file record on the new chip (so you can boot), where can I get?
therefore I put that this new chip, and when it starts ,flasheo with the bios update from Lenovo's official website?
I am grateful for the help !!!!! |

I had a dump from a t40 without the TCPA, I simply can't find it now, I'll keep looking for it. That should worked just fine in R51 and you need a BIOS dump that doesn't have TCPA.
Without that, another idea is to boot from another R51 working board and mount the bad BIOS over it and reflash. _________________ Victor Voinea
