|
|
I am trying to reset the Power-on password of a Thinkpad X200, but was not successful. I used the technique recommended by Lenovo support that is:
If the Power-on password is forgotten and the Supervisor password is known, simply go into the ThinkPad BIOS setup utility and reset the Power-on password, otherwise try the following:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Remove the backup battery.
4. Turn on the computer and wait until the POST ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The POP has been removed.
5. Reinstall the backup battery and the battery pack.
Somehow, the password does not get clear using the method above. Anyone has a suggestion of a simple method to get that done? Thanks. _________________ Stephan

The simple method is to get the laptop apart and read the 24RF08 eeprom (or P24S08) using R24RF08 and a simple interface.
Read the tutorial up here. The eeprom is located near the bigger "Lenovo" chip and has 8 pins. |

Thanks Bob. Could you give the exact link of that Thinkpad X200 tutorial? Thanks. _________________ Stephan
