|
|
I saw a pictue in one of the threads of someone who used the port replicator to read the EEPROM (24RF..) on their X series Thinkpad (X20-X23 series).
They traced out the SDA and SDL pins from the EEPROM that is in the port replicator to the ribbon cable assembly.
This is obviously a much better solution than soldering directly to the Thinkpad and thus it avoids potential damage to the laptop itself.
BUT,
Can this be done on the larger or even the smaller Port Replicators (there are two types of replicators on the Thinkpad T series) and if so does someone have a picture of the pinouts for SDA/SDL?
If this can be done, a person could setup a PORT Replicator to act soley as an interface to read the EEPROMs in any T20-23 series laptop and thus recovery the SVP password.
please advise,
--Steve
p.s.
I have about 20-25 such Thinkpad T20-T23 laptops that ALL have the SVP, but we don't know their unique passwords and would like to find a better solution than doing individual soldering to each and every one of them.
Can we use the bigger PORT REPLICATOR (type 2631) TO DO THIS LIKE THEY ARE DOING ON THE X20-23 series Thinkpads? |

The trick you mentioned can be done only on X2x series, as far as we know. |
